Abruzzo - Molise; This region is the Abruzzo, a mountainous area which stretches from the Adriatic to the highest peaks of the Apennines. Here you will find skilled fishermen who live along the coast, while the central region contains the National Park of the Abruzzo, protected by the law. This region is the setting for a colossal meal which goes back to the Ancient Greeks; where the meal begins midday and often continues far into the night. The specialties are pork, lamb, fish and a variety of cheeses. The cooking as varied as it is refined, is intended for strong, healthy digestions. The rocky landscapes of the Abruzzo means that few wines are produced in the region, however, there are three types which blend well with the local cooking.
